Platphorm provides a system that allows businesses to build scalable, reliable, marketplaces where buyers pay sellers for information delivered by voice, mail, chat, SMS, or recorded phone message.

What does our system do? Well, say you just got a puppy and you’re interested in asking questions of a real, live expert on how to best train him. Google can’t help you. Nor can Yahoo, Bing, or any traditional search engine. However, a site powered by our platform can: You type in “puppy training” and instead of getting a list of pages, you get a list of people — real people — ready to speak with you live over the phone to answer your questions or via mail, chat, or SMS. You can browse each provider’s profile, look at their ratings, and read written feedback left by others.

When you find a provider you like, you press a “Call Now” button and our system initiates a call to you, then the provider, and you are connected to talk for whatever price per minute (or call) the provider has set. It’s that simple. We white-label this system for other companies in any vertical, and handle not just the multimodal communications system, but all customer and community support, provider payment, and systems monitoring.

Best In Class System

We’ve built our platform using best in class tools and practices. Our multi-modal applications ride on top of Rails. Our telephony system has been built on top of CCXML & VXML. Our setup is geographically redundant. We use a hybrid of cloud and dedicated servers running the latest technologies to ensure the optimal mix of performance and availability. We’re serious about testing. We use RSpec, Selenium and our own homegrown call tester for regression testing. We leverage services like New Relic and Airbrake to monitor the quality and performance of our system.

Customer Service, Community and Risk Management

Our platform isn’t just hardware and software. It’s people, too. Of course, the most important people are the ones you fill it with: Buyers and Sellers. But these people need other people to help them to use the system, resolve issues, and make sure everyone is playing nicely and by the rules. That’s where our people come in. When you white-label our system, you also have access to a team dedicated to customer support, community management, and risk management. These experts and the tools they utilize are included in the licensing fees. All that is really left once you provide a look to the site is to market it!

Senior Software Engineer - Core product team, Full stack Ruby on Rails / React

Are you a team player, looking for a small engineering team to engage with? Somewhere with other open-minded people, where you can advocate best practices, help improve processes and make key decisions in designing our systems? Somewhere where code review is standard practice and seen as a great way to both authors and reviewers to learn?

Platphorm is small, stable, profitable, and growing company. Founded in 2009 and based in San Francisco (right next to Muni/Bart), We are a development company with an expanding portfolio of niche B2C communications marketplaces.

Our team uses agile methodologies (kanban) with continuous delivery to produce communication verticals (chat, messaging, voice, video). As an engineer you'd be responsible for designing and building software, working with the DevOps and QA teams for support in testing and releasing features.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone who wants to become an integral part of a small upbeat engineering team that’s having fun building things, and to push them to do even better!
  • Someone who knows good design, who’s not scared by scaling.
  • Someone who can take a project spec and run with it (but knows that discussing design with the team before running too far is the better move).

Requirements:

  • Strong CS fundamentals
  • You must be curious and an excellent problem solver
  • At least 4+ years of software development experience
  • A fullstack developer with familiarity of either/both: React or Ruby on Rails

  • Spend time figuring out how to implement a ticket

  • Branch your Git fork, code up a solution, and create a pull request

Community Policy Representative

Are you an analytical thinker who has a strong curiosity for getting to the bottom of the story all while cultivating an environment of excellent customer support? Do you have a strong understanding of policy management and online communities, and a passion for catching the bad guys?

Platphorm is looking for a Community Policy Representative to be a part of our Policies and Abuse team. The Policies and Abuse team enforces Platphorm’s policies across our various domains. The team creates, communicates, and enforces policies while providing exceptional customer support. You will have the opportunity to be a key contributor to help enforce our rules and remove content that could harm our users and our brand. You will make judgment calls about whether content breaks our rules and be able to explain your decisions to users. You aren’t afraid of making tough calls, and you have a genuine passion for tackling complex policy issues while working closely with various departments including Customer Advocacy, Risk Management, and Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce policies across various websites and web presences while providing an exceptional user experience
  • Review and evaluate user-generated content for compliance with our site policies
  • Assess accounts that have been flagged for various content violations
  • Investigate user account activity and work closely with our Customer Advocacy and Risk Management teams on large fraud cases
  • Clearly and professionally communicate policies and policy infractions to users
  • Provide feedback to various teams regarding abuse and policy issues
  • Create new policies and adjust current policies as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Understanding of the roles policy enforcement plays in online communities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong investigative skills, critical thinking capabilities, and good judgment
  • Enjoy being part of a small team and willing to help out with duties outside the scope of your job
  • Community management or customer support experience is a plus
  • Comfortable with adult content and supporting an adult entertainment product

Content Manager (Contract)

Are you passionate about creating compelling content that supports innovative product experiences? Do you enjoy solving complex problems? Are you equal parts creative and analytical?

Platphorm is looking for an experienced editorial content manager to join our growing team to help lead content initiatives in support of the upcoming launch of our new advice product, Everclear, which is currently in development.

Working together with other members of the Product Marketing & Strategy team, you will oversee a cross-channel content marketing program and serve as the editor of Lifescopes, a weekly personalized guidance email launched in early June 2018 with 60K+ subscribers to date. Lifescopes is a key acquisition strategy and will be integral to the ongoing engagement of both new and existing customers for Everclear.

You will have the opportunity to make a big impact on a small but nimble team with all the excitement of working on a new product venture--backed by a company that is already stable and profitable.

Scope of Contract: Up to 40 hours/week; 6 month contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop/manage Lifescopes’ editorial calendar and produce new content on an ongoing basis
  • Manage a team of freelance writing resources and ensure that content produced upholds established product standards and is consistently on-brand, on-message, and in-voice
  • Administer our custom CMS for Lifescopes
  • Serve as copy editor for all content deliverables in your purview
  • Create and execute content strategies based on product and marketing requirements
  • Develop content frameworks, style guides, terminology, taxonomies, program plans, and editorial calendars
  • Cultivate a strong understanding of the product space, including the unique needs and goals of target end-users in order to apply these insights in delivering highly-relevant messaging
  • Oversee the development of content deliverables across the product user experience, customer lifecycle, and across channels (in-product copy, email marketing, social media, blogs and other key touchpoints)
  • Leverage best practices in optimizing content for organic search (SEO)
  • Conduct research and ideate new opportunities for extending content engagement via strategic marketing programs
  • Collaborate closely with the product, customer operations, and tech teams
  • Support the VP of Product Marketing & Strategy on any other content-driven programs

Qualifications

  • Degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of content development/content marketing/content strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in managing successful cross-channel content marketing programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator with outstanding editorial chops
  • Some experience with SEO (preferred)
  • Design sensibility (a plus, but not required)
  • Tenacious problem solver with strong project management skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented, adaptable, fast learner
  • Desire to work on niche B2C products
  • Laser-focused on results
  • Start-up experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Last but not least: a sense of humor, positive “can-do” attitude, and fun to work with
